Srilankan Cricketers were attacked today by 12 Terrorist when they were on their way to Gadaffi Stadium to play Day 3 of the Second Test Match between Pakistan and Srilanka.
The terrorist came well armed with rocket launchers and grenandes. Rocket launcher was fired at the Srilankan Team's bus but it missed the target. Gun shots were fired at them and as a result 6 Srilankan players have been injured and been rushed to Medical care.
Also 7 Policeman have been killed in the attack. The list of people being injured include Kumar Sangakara , Ajantha Mendis , Thilan Samarawera , Chaminda Vaas , Mahela Jaywardena.
Sangakara & Samarawera have been shot on their chest and Ajantha Mendis has taken a bullet on his shoulder.
Shopkeeper Ahmed Ali said two police commandos had been driving behind the team bus when they were hit.
“It was a very heavy firing and I heard at least two explosions at the time,” said another witness who had been on his way to cover the test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The terrorist wanted to create a big impact and they have cetainly succeded in doing do.
Questions must be asked about the Security situation in Pakistan. Also this would alarm the ICC to think about the next Cricket World Cup to be hosted by India,Pakistan, Bangladesh and Srilanka. Will the world cup be played in some other location now??? Secuirty concerns have plagued over Pakistan for years now. Recently the ICC Champions Trophy was called off due to security concerns and many teams refusion to travel to Pakistan.
Strict actions must be taken for this and I feel this is the end of Pakistan Cricket which was on a decline as it.
